Gameplay Edit

Sonic Mania is a 2D side-scrolling platformer that plays like many of the original Sega Genesis Sonic games. The game will feature three different playable characters which consist of Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, and Knuckles the Echidna. Along with classic moves, Sonic gets a new move called the drop dash which allows Sonic to instantly dash into a spin attack after landing from a jump. The elemental shields and giant special stage rings from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also make a return.

The game's levels will consist of classic Sonic stages that have been remixed like the Green Hill Zone and completely new stages like Studiopolis Zone.
